A BRADFORD man has been ordered to pay more than £400 over an unpaid rail fare.
Luke Jackson, 21 of Wycliffe Gardens, Shipley, travelled between Saltaire and Bradford Forster Square on February 3, 2022.
But Bradford and Keighley Magistrates' Court heard he travelled on the train without paying the fare of £3.20 for the journey and was stopped by a train conductor.
Jackson could not produce a ticket, not pay for the journey he was making.
Court documents say: "The conductor issued an Unpaid Fares Notice to him in good faith in order that he may firstly continue the journey he was making and secondly that he may pay the outstanding fare within 21 days."
Jackson failed to pay so a reminder was then sent to him. Again, no payment was made so a Fixed Penalty Notice was issued, but the fare remain unpaid.
The case, heard on July 13 , was proved in Jackson's absence and he was fined £220; ordered to pay a surcharge of £34 to fund victim services and costs of £150. He must also pay £3.20 compensation.
The balance of £407.20 must be paid by August 10.
A collection order was made by the court.
