A FUNDRAISING page has been set up in memory of a Bradford boy who tragically died while on a family climb in the Lake District.

The family of Sami Ahmed, 15, has set up the Go Fund Me page to raise money in his memory. More than £12,000 has been donated in a matter of days, with a target of £30,000.

Sami's father Khalil said: “Sami is still my son, though he isn’t here and I’m going to do everything I can to honour his memory and give him what he deserves.

“As a family, we aren’t coping, it’s like our limbs have been torn off. Sami is everywhere, in every fibre of this house.

“This has been a difficult time, it hurts, and we are carrying this weight with us and we will for all our lives.

“Our faith is getting us through this, we believe that God is going to help us, he’s not just going to let us fall.”

The money raised will be distributed to charities in the UK and abroad, including Coniston Mountain Rescue, which did all it could to help Sami when he fell in the Lake District.

Sami, who lived in West Bowling, attended Dixons City Academy and played football for Phoenix FC and Thackley Lightning.

In a tribute, his father Khalil described Sami as a "loving son who was always seen smiling".

He added: “Everything we have heard and all the tributes that have been paid, just show Sami’s character.

“He cared deeply for his sisters and his family in general.

“He spent time with us and always wanted to do things with us.

“Sami would come litter picking with me on a Sunday, he’d play football with me or go for a run with me.

“Everybody talks about his smile and how he was always smiling. His friends said that when they saw him smile, they knew their day was going to be okay.”

Scores of tributes have been left in a Book of Condolence set up by the Telegraph & Argus.

One said: "You were always extra sweet and considerate, funny and the soul of the classroom, from primary school.

"It breaks my heart to know that you're gone - but you’ll always be remembered."

His former teacher, Sam Shaw, said: "I had the pleasure of teaching Sami for the school football team, an incredibly talented young man who will be missed by many.

"My thoughts are with his family at this time."
