A FAMOUS popstar’s guitarist is set to perform in Otley this weekend.

Tapas and Tunes, a new food and music venue that opened at the end of last year is hosting a live music event, where the guitarist for English singer – Adam Ant - will play with his band.

Bridget Deakin, a former chef and musician and her partner Sam Stevens, who is a singer/songwriter, opened the venue in November to offer tapas, drinks and a space for music and dancing.

Bridget said: “I always loved being a chef and wanted to go back to it after I had my children.

“I was looking to do something that would work in Otley and also that was my style of food-great ingredients, simple and well cooked using all my knowledge of cooking I have acquired over the years.

“Spain and their culture was a perfect platform to we decided to go for tapas.

“When I met Sam we decided to do it together and so the ‘tunes’ came in as he is also a musician/singer/songwriter.”

This weekend the pair will be hosting an ‘Electric Mayhem’ festival where several artists, including a salsa band called Carioca Soul on Friday, and Adam Ant's current guitarist Will Crewdson will play on Saturday night.

In the past, the venue has welcomed a diverse range of musicians and bands and would like to welcome more upcoming artists to get in touch.

Diners will be able to book a table upstairs to enjoy their food while the music is on.

The menu consists of a range of tapas dishes, including patatas bravas, Pimientos de Padron peppers and Spanish tortillas.

It also offers cheese and charcuterie boards, as well as salads and soups.

Bridget added: “I love cooking and finding new ingredients and working with our head chef Jacob to create new tapas dishes or pintxos.

“We are both very creative and like changing the specials board and lunchtime menu around. We also have on our list wine tasting, theme evenings, and paella parties in the garden going forwards.”

The venue also offers an extensive list of drinks and specialises in Spanish wine and sangria.

“Ben our bar manager also does a great mojito and pornstar martini. He is a proper whizz at throwing things around,” she said.

The venue also stocks a range of soft drinks and non-alcoholic options.
