This afternoon, mourners attended Somaiya’s funeral at the Abu Bakr Masjid on Steadman Terrace, off Leeds Road, at 1.30pm today.

Once the funeral concluded, approximately 50 to 100 mourners streamed out of the mosque and walked back down the small street of terraced houses.

The hearse carrying Somaiya's body then drove down the street on its way to her burial at Scholemoor Cemetery in Lidget Green.

Somaiya was last seen at her home on Saturday, June 25, at 2pm and reported missing 24 hours later.

There has been an outpouring of grief and shock in Bradford following the tragic discovery of the young woman’s body.

At the end of last week, crowds gathered on an emotional evening to attend a vigil in Centenary Square to remember the 20-year-old.

The vigil was held from 6pm to 7pm last Friday as people gathered to remember the 20-year-old who was described as an "affectionate and caring" young woman.

At the vigil, a message was read out from her family followed by a minute's silence.

One of the vigil organisers, Fatima Patel, said: "Somaiya has been described as a very talented young woman.

"She was somebody who was very affectionate, very caring and somebody who had a very bright future ahead of her.

"Having nieces myself of that age and being from the community, living here in Bradford, all of us feel that loss whether they know Somaiya or not."

Somaiya's uncle appeared before Bradford Crown Court last week, charged with her murder.

Mohammed Taroos Khan, 52, of Thornbury Road, Bradford, is set to stand trial on February 20 next year.

The Recorder of Bradford, Judge Richard Mansell QC, fixed a plea and trial preparation hearing for September 19 when Khan will be arraigned on the murder charge.
