A WOMAN who runs a coffee business at an underground leisure complex in Bradford is marking her first anniversary of trading by offering boozy coffees on her menu.

Lina Easter runs The Coffee Booth at the tunnel entrance of Sunbridgewells in Bradford city centre.

She is marking her first anniversary with a temporary alcohol licence, where she will be combining booze with coffee for her customers. This will include being able to make up drinks such as espresso martinis and brandy coffees every day from Tuesday, July 19 to Saturday, July 23.

She is running the kiosk herself and started trading for the first time when the site reopened on July 22 last year after being shut due to the pandemic.

It is an independent business providing coffees made from freshly roasted beans, sourced from several Fairtrade farms around the world. It is Mrs Easter's first coffee-related business.

Mrs Easter sells coffees from countries including Papua New Guinea, Brazil, India and Uganda. She is originally from Lithuania and has lived in Bradford for more than 10 years. She added that in the future she hopes to expand her business and her dream is to open a coffee and jazz bar in the city in the future.

Mrs Easter hopes this week’s temporary alcohol licence will lead to a permanent version in the future, adding the Alhambra Theatre offers her a trade spike from audience members and show performers alike.

She said: “The first year has gone really quickly.

“We will be celebrating throughout this week.

“I’ve really enjoyed the last year and I’m looking at how I can improve. I’m in the process of getting a permanent alcohol licence, but I have a temporary alcohol licence for the week of the first anniversary.

“It has flown by and has been really good. A turning point in my trade was when the Alhambra re-opened. I’m building up nice relationships with the Alhambra.

“I would eventually like to move to a bigger place. My dream would be to have a coffee and jazz bar. I would like to do that in Bradford. It’s my town now. I don’t see myself going anywhere else.”

The Coffee Booth kiosk at Sunbridgewells is open at Sunbridgewells on Monday to Thursday from noon to 7pm and on Friday and Saturday noon to 11pm.

The kiosk’s products are also available online. Go to thecoffeeboothyorkshire.com for more information.
