SOMEONE rang the 999 emergency line...because they wanted the number for their GP.
West Yorkshire Police's Contact Management Centre shared details of the call to highlight the importance of using 999 for emergency calls only.
The team often tweets some of the more unusual phone calls they receive from the general public.
In its latest example, the team said: "You cannot ring 999 and ask the police to get you the number for your local GP..... #Not999.”

Previous calls to the contact centre have included someone called 999 to ask them to book some driving lessons for them.
Another called to say their knickers had been stolen from their washing line.
Other examples included a call from someone asking if their bank was open and a dispute overpaying a window cleaner.
