A Bradford police officer has warned “crime has stepped up but so have we” amid a busy day on patrol.

Richard Baildon, lead for Bradford City NPT, revealed what a day in the life policing Bradford might look like.

Just two hours into patrols on Wednesday morning, an arrest was made after seven officers were deployed to the NPT’s route.

“One arrest for burglary that we hope to remand,” the officer said.

The team then dealt with an indecent assault, leading to one suspect being placed in custody.

In an update, PC Baildon said: “Wed 20/7 crime has stepped up but so have we.

“Rolling on now to city centre operational partners meet.”

It comes as West Yorkshire Police continues its search for new policing talent.

Roles in the Direct Entry Detective Constable Initial Police Learning & Development Programme (IPLDP+), and Degree Holder Entry Programme (DHEP) are available.

The application deadline has been extended to Sunday, July 31.
