A BRADFORD school celebrated its success in Morrisons’ ‘It’s Good To Grow’ scheme with a visit from a city MP.
Imran Hussain, who represents the Bradford East constituency, visited Blakehill Primary School to present the school with new gardening equipment secured through the scheme.
The school received one of the highest numbers of tokens in the country and successfully secured new gardening kit including wheelbarrows, forks, spades, trowels and seed supplies.
The equipment will support pupils at the school in developing the school garden. The work will allow children to develop a closer relationship with the natural world as they get hands-on experience of growing fruit and vegetables.
Morrisons launched the ‘It’s Good to Grow’ scheme last September to help inspire children to get outdoors and learn about where food comes from. Thanks to the scheme, more than 71,000 pieces of gardening equipment are now being donated to schools up and down the country.
Mr Hussain said: “This is a brilliant scheme by Morrisons to help children get busy in their gardens and our community green spaces, and it was great to join pupils at Blakehill Primary School to present them with this equipment and help them create their own school garden.”
