A 20-YEAR-OLD man died in a horror crash in Bradford last night.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the fatal road traffic collision on Low Lane, Clayton, which occurred near the junction Chat Hill Road.

Officers were called at 8.11pm to reports of a Honda Accord vehicle in collision with a Nissan Qashai.

The driver of the Honda, a 20-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two passengers in the Honda were taken to hospital with injuries believed to be serious but not life-threatening.

Two occupants in the Nissan Qashqai suffered serious injuries.

The two-car crash prompted a large response from the emergency services.

A spokesperson for the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service added: "We were called at 8:19pm on Sunday to reports of a serious road traffic collision between two cars.

"Fairweather Green and Illingworth fire stations attended."

Six ambulances and two rapid response vehicles from the Yorkshire Ambulance Service were also called to the scene.

An ambulance service spokesperson said they conveyed four people to Leeds General Infirmary.

The road was reopened on Monday and there were remnants of police tape at the scene.

A Clayton councillor spoke to the T&A about the tragic crash.

"It's very sad for the families involved," said Cllr Carol Thirkill (Lab, Clayton and Fairweather Green). "It's always sad for everyone when incidents like these happen.

"They impact not only people in the community but people across Bradford.

"I drive on that road and there had never been a fatality in 40 years that I've known of. There have been some minor bumps but generally, it's quite safe.

She did say that Low Lane can get quite busy for traffic travelling through Clayton to Thornton and vice-versa.

"It does get quite gridlocked at certain times of the day."

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw the vehicles prior to the collision or anyone who may have dash cam footage to come forward.
