A SPECIALIST West Yorkshire film school has welcomed the former CEO of Screen Yorkshire to its board.
MetFilm School, which has a new campus in Leeds, has welcomed Sally Joynson, who retired from Screen Yorkshire earlier this year after 20 years of service.
She said: “I didn’t want to leave the industry all together and when MetFilm School invited me to join them, it was a perfect opportunity.”
Ms Joynson is from Buckinghamshire and moved to Yorkshire when she was 18 for university.
She then began her career in local radio in Yorkshire, and progressed within BBC television as a freelancer, before later joining a media training consortium.
“I’m keen to see MetFilm School’s new Leeds campus embedded into the Yorkshire and north of England screen landscape,” she added.
“It’s also critical that the industry is made more accessible and attracts a wider, more diverse pool of new and emerging talent.
“It has to be more reflective of our world and our communities so that talent, wherever it is based, whatever its background, is given the opportunity to flourish.”
“Yorkshire is the most beautiful county, with breath-taking countryside, glorious coastlines, as well as busy and vibrant cities.
“The north has an enviable community of incredibly supportive and dynamic film makers with ambitions to push boundaries.”
