BRADFORD has been ranked as one of the most inactive places in the UK, according to a study.

The city was placed 47th out of 51 towns and cities in the research by DNA Lean.

This investigation, looks at data from Public Health England, the Department for Transport, and the Independent Directory, looked at factors such as the percentage of active adults, how many people walk or cycle five times per week, plus the number of gyms and leisure centres per 100,000 people.

The study shows Bradford had an overall score of 37. It has a population of 539,776, has physically active adults (100) of 77.

The number of adults in Bradford that walk or cycle five times per week (100) is 44.

The number of gyms per 100,000 people is seven and the number of leisure centres per 100,000 is five.

Kirklees did even worse in the study, as it was rated as the 49th most active place in the UK, with an overall score of 37.

Meanwhile, Stockport was the most active with an overall score of 55. Sandwell in the West Midlands was ranked as the most inactive place in the survey, with an overall score of 33.
