AN investigation is underway after a cannabis farm was discovered at a former care home.

Police were called to the old Riddlesden Rest and Convalescent Home, on Carr Lane, Riddlesden, yesterday afternoon, where the discovery was made.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson confirmed an investigation had been launched after the cannabis farm was uncovered at the scene.

The spokesperson added: "Enquiries are ongoing."

A number of police vehicles were at the scene, along with Northern Powerngrid workers.

A strong smell of cannabis was also reported by people living in the area.

West Yorkshire Police says cannabis farms can crop up in any residential areas, from homes and shops to warehouses and derelict buildings.

Some things to look out for include strong odours, covered up windows and excessive security measures.
