A MAN has sadly died after a bus crashed into a lamp post in Otley yesterday.
The bus, a white coach, was travelling on Milner Bank in Otley when it crashed into a lamp post and came to a rest in a hedgerow shortly after 4pm.
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "At 4.23pm yesterday, police received a report of a bus colliding with a lamp post in Milner Bank, Otley.
"Emergency services attended the scene as the male driver required urgent medical attention.
"The man, 52, was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later.
"There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances around his death and his family have been informed."
It is understood that the driver suffered a medical episode at the wheel prior to the crash.
There were also unconfirmed reports that the bus was carrying schoolchildren, however, the police said "no other injuries were reported".
The police also reported that Northern Powergrid was also notified as an electricity substation was damaged in the collision.
