SOMEONE rang the 999 emergency line...to order a pizza.

West Yorkshire Police's Contact Management Centre shared details of the call to highlight the importance of using 999 for emergency calls only.

The team often tweets some of the more unusual calls they receive from the general public.

The force receives 120 inappropriate calls each day, and posts them on social media as part of its #Not999 campaign.

In its latest example, the team said: "999 is an emergency line for Police, Ambulance or Fire. No, it isn't a line to order a Pizza.... #Not999.”

Previous calls to the contact centre have included someone called 999 to ask them to book some driving lessons for them.

Another call came from someone who had a broken oven and wanted police to fix it.
