Leeds Bradford has been named among the top 10 UK airports with the worst delays in 2021.

The new analysis by PA saw Birmingham Airport rank in first place, averaging at 12 minutes and 24 seconds late per flight.

This airport was followed by Southampton - averaging 12 minutes late per flight - in second place and Heathrow in third place, with an average of 11 minutes and 48 seconds late.

Leeds Bradford Airport ranked in 10th place with flights averaging seven minutes and 42 seconds late per flight.

The report used data from the Civil Aviation Authority, a national body which oversees and regulates all aspects of air transport.

The aviation sector across Europe is experiencing “operational issues” including air traffic control delays, and increased times for identity checks of new recruits.

Leeds Bradford spokesperson previously said: “We’re working hard to overcome these challenges through recruitment and training initiatives, while managing queues.”
