A BRADFORD man has been jailed for drink driving in the city.

Sobhan Mahmood, 28, of Pollard Lane, appeared in court on a number of charges.

He was committed to prison for two weeks for driving a motor vehicle when his alcohol level was above the limit.

He was caught driving on Leeds Road, Bradford, on March 25, 22, after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in his breath, namely 61 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeded the prescribed limit. He was ordered to pay a £128 victim surcharge for this offence.

Mahmood was jailed as the offence was deemed so serious because it was committed during the operational period of a suspended sentence.

He was also disqualified from holding, or obtaining, a driving licence for 36 months for this charge.

Mahmood was committed to prison for two weeks, to run concurrently, for failing to surrender to police/court bail at the appointed time, on April 12, 2022.

He had an original suspended sentence of imprisonment of 16 weeks, suspended for 18 months, implemented. This was originally made in 2020 for a charge of driving while disqualified.

Mahmood pleaded guilty and was sentenced at Bradford & Keighley Magistrates’ Court on June 30, 2022.
