A DRIVER was over the alcohol limit, tested positive for cannabis, was uninsured and wanted over a burglary.

The details were revealed by the Bradford South Neighbourhood Policing Team, which had a busy weekend on the Holme Wood estate.

It started when officers spotted a flatbed transit overtaking vehicles "carelessly" on Broadstone Way, the main road through Holme Wood.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "A few quick turns and the driver abandons it and makes off on foot from officers and is lost sadly.

"Officers return to the vehicle and find another male moving the vehicle, who spots police and reverses into a gate, thankfully causing no damage. He’s quickly removed from the vehicle and in cuffs.

"He stinks of booze and provides a roadside sample of 80. The limit is 35. There is also cannabis in the vehicle. He’s also positive for cannabis on a drugs wipe.

"To add to it, he’s also not insured."

Police said he was also wanted for a burglary offence at a business over in Huddersfield.

The spokesperson added: "Arrested for all offences… he then refuses to provide evidential breath and blood for analysis in custody.

"He’ll be charged come morning for failing to provide and no insurance and dealt with for the cannabis and burglary offences separately after interview.

"The vehicle was also seized for the no insurance offence."
