IT will be a scorcher in Bradford today with temperatures predicted to soar to 28°C.

The Met Office says it will be a "dry and very warm to hot day with long spells of sometimes hazy sunshine, and generally light winds".

The heat will intensify as the day goes on, with highs of 28°C expected from 5pm, before dipping back down as the night goes on.

By 10pm, it will be 24°C and the Met Office is warning temperatures may be 'uncomfortable' overnight.

The Met Office says: "Staying dry overnight with some clear spells, although there will be increasing amounts of higher level cloud.

"Temperatures remaining warm, perhaps uncomfortably so. Minimum temperature 18°C."

A Level Three Heat Health Alert has been issued for this week, highlighting the potential health impacts of these high temperatures.

Dr Agostinho Sousa, Head of Extreme Events and Health Protection at the UK Health Security Agency, said: “We want everyone to enjoy the hot weather when it arrives, but also to check in on their vulnerable family, friends and neighbours to make sure they are prepared for the warm conditions ahead.

“High temperatures are predicted for a prolonged period, so make sure to follow our simple health advice to beat the heat, such as covering windows exposed to direct sunlight and making sure that fridges, freezers and fans are working properly.”
