PLANS to turn a derelict Bradford pub into a restaurant have been approved by planning officers.
Royal Oak on Sticker Lane has been vacant for well over a decade, with different plans to bring the building back to life being approved, but never moving forward.
Located next to Dunelm, the prominent building has gradually become an eyesore on one of Bradford’s busiest roads.
The most recent plan to transform the building was revealed in Spring.
A planning application to convert the building into a restaurant was submitted to Bradford Council by Deborah Okungbowa.
The application said the business would create at least seven jobs and prove “exciting and stimulating for the local and wider community.”
A car park area next to the pub, currently used for car sales, will have space for up to 30 cars.
Nobody had objected to the plans.
Approving the scheme this week, planning officers said: “Planning decisions should help create the conditions in which businesses can invest, expand and adapt.
“Significant weight should be placed on the need to support economic growth and productivity.”
They said the large car park planned for the restaurant “will not result in adverse implications for highway safety.”
