THERE was celebration at a care home in the Bradford district as a resident celebrated her 102nd birthday.
Bingley Wingfield Nursing Home pulled out all the stops to make Fay Mitchell's milestone birthday – July 6 – a special one for her.
Activity manager Sue Sroka co-ordinated the bash and said: “Fay enjoyed every minute of her party. Martin our maintenance played the guitar for the afternoon - Fay had requested musicals.
“Fay had a lovely lunch and birthday cake. She’s looking forward to getting her next birthday card from The Queen.”
In a lovely touch, Fay received a special birthday card made by Year 2 children at Beckfoot Priestthorpe Primary School.
Sue said: “We are linked with Year 2 for the intergeneration project - earlier in the year the children came down to us to sing songs for The Queen’s jubilee.”
Fay was born in India and married a soldier from the Duke of Wellington regiment while she lived there.
She arrived in Keighley in 1945, where she built her life. She went on to have two children; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one great, great-grandchild.
