A Bradford-based college has rolled out the red carpet at Kala Sangam to commemorate the achievements of the learners on its vocational programme.

The awards were presented to finalists selected from over 700 learners at The Opportunity Centre.

The event was hosted by Yorkshire DJ, Capital Radio’s drivetime presenter JoJo who kept the audience engaged with her trademark energy. The Lord Mayor of Bradford, Martin Love, who attended with the Lady Mayoress, opened the ceremony, and noted how impressed he was by the achievements of the finalists, many of the whom had faced personal challenges yet within a year had gained English, maths and vocational qualifications helping them move on to further education or into a job.

The newly named Opportunity College, run by the Opportunity Centre, a social enterprise which offers free training, careers and employability support, offers a variety of courses, such as beauty, bricklaying, health & Social care and motor vehicle, alongside partner organisations, to young people in Bradford and across Yorkshire & the Humber aged 16-19 and up to 25 with an EHCP to help them get into work or further education.
