Learning to ‘talk tiger’ and meeting live animals are some of the activities on offer through Bradford Libraries’ Summer Reading Challenge.
The Gadgeteers Summer Reading Challenge is being run in partnership with the Science Museum Group and will show children how science, invention and technology are all around us every day.
The challenge, aimed at children aged between four and 11, runs from this Saturday until September 10 and encourages children to read for pleasure through the summer. Children are challenged to read six library books and collect incentives along the way.
The challenge and all the events are free – children just need to register at their local library with their library ticket. They will receive a Gadgeteers folder with stickers; bookmark and tips on how to make reading fun. If six books are read they receive a Gadgeteers certificate and medal.
There will also be numerous free events in Bradford’s libraries, including ZooLab workshops featuring live small animals, performances with Jenna Drury on ‘How to Talk Tiger’ and ‘The Life of Honey Bees’ and a performance about ape expert Jane Goodall.
