A CITY centre warehouse that has been empty for so long that vegetation is sprouting from its windows had gone on the market.
34-36 Canal Road dates back to Bradford’s Victorian period, and is part of the Cathedral Precinct Conservation Area. It has been vacant for well over a decade.
Earlier this year, the building was part of a film set as a section of the city centre was transformed into 1950s Russia for Netflix series The Crown.
In recent years plans to convert the property into flats have been approved by Bradford Council, but work to convert the five-storey building never got going.
Plan to convert city centre building into flats can move ahead
The most recent application was submitted by Richard Condon last year, and called for the building to be divided into 33 flats. The plans, approved in October, said that work would begin imminently once permission had been granted.
However, the building is now up for sale by Mark Brearley and Company – with an asking price of £495,000.
