A BRADFORD City fan braved a gruelling eating challenge to raise money for a charity.

Nick Kitchen completed the One-Chip Challenge, which saw him eat a very spicy chip which contains Carolina Reaper and Scorpion peppers.

The eating challenge has proved a hit on social media over the last couple of years.

Nick, who wore protective gloves as he tried the delicacy, completed the fiery test at The Acorn in Eldwick, in just under five minutes. He added his family did not want him to do the challenge.

He has now raised a total of £874 for the One in a Million charity and the total includes £300 from Nick’s employers, Asda, in Keighley.

Nick also held a fundraising raffle including Bradford City items including boots signed by Bantams striker Andy Cook.

Nick said: “It was extremely hot and dry and I almost quit eating it all. But I was determined not to fail or let anyone down.

“I managed to eat it in under five minutes, including waiting two minutes without taking any liquid. “The afterburn was incredible and kept growing and the heat lasted for about 30 to 45 minutes after.

“I was both proud and emotional after.”
