SOMEONE rang the 999 emergency line...because they did not receive a receipt after a taxi ride.

West Yorkshire Police's Contact Management Centre shared details of the call to highlight the importance of using 999 for emergency calls only.

The team often tweets some of the more unusual phone calls they receive from the general public.

In its latest example, the team posted: "Unfortunately, it is definitely not suitable to ring 999 as you did not receive a receipt for your taxi.”

Previous calls to the contact centre have included someone called 999 to ask them to book some driving lessons for them. Another called to say their knickers had been stolen from their washing line. Another came from a boy who had lost his shoe playing football.
