A BRADFORD woman has been fined an eye-watering £649 for failing to pay a £15 rail fare and using an invalid railcard.
Feriel Sellal, 29, of Mill Street, Bradford, was fined for using a disabled railcard discount while traveling between Bradford Interchange and Manchester Victoria on October 14, 2021.
Sellal was asked to produce a ticket and showed the Advance Single from Bradford Interchange to Manchester Victoria. However, when asked to show her disability railcard, she claimed she had left it at home.
Her details were taken, and she was advised the facts would be reported. A letter was sent to her address requesting an explanation and because there was no response, a Fixed Penalty Notice was sent.
However, this remains unpaid.
A Collection Order was made, and she was ordered to pay a fine of £440, compensation of £15.30, a surcharge to fund victim services of £44, and costs of £150.
In total, she must pay £649.30, which must be paid by July 15, 2022.
