TRIBUTES have been pouring in following the sad death of legendary Bradford-born broadcaster Harry Gration.

Amy Garcia broke the news in a moving announcement made at the end of Friday's teatime Look North programme. 

Those who worked with Harry over the years have paid touching tributes, along with those who loved watching him on screen.

The comments left by Telegraph & Argus readers are a testament to how well respected Harry was and how he made a huge impression on the generations of people who met and watched him.

Michele Hart wrote: “A great journalist and a true gent away from the screens.

“I met him a couple of times and he was so lovely. My heart goes out to his family and loved ones.

“Harry really was one of life’s good guys. I was in shock when Amy announced his death and it must have been so hard for her to report this.”

Chris Ward added: “I never met Harry but I felt I knew him as a friend, such was his charm and brilliance as a presenter.

“My parents knew him years ago when he attended their church for a while at St John's Moor Allerton, north Leeds. They remembered him fondly. Such was his presence that it feels like losing one of the family. Condolences to his family and RIP Harry, a true Yorkshire great.”

Jasmin Waterhouse reflected what many have said – she grew up seeing him on local news and reflected: “Now a part of my childhood has gone.

“Condolences to his family, friends and all who knew him.”

Richard Willetts said: “Thank you Harry for all the happy memories that flood back of when I was a young boy living with my mum and dad and watching you on the TV.”

John Andrew Leonard added: “Harry always came over as a decent, charming and friendly chap.”

Habibur Rahman said: “I and my family grew up watching Harry do a superb job since the 80s.

“His accent made us feel connected to Bradford. My condolences to his family. Thank you Harry for all your service to broadcasting.”

Martin Smith described him as a "tremendous reporter" who would be sadly missed by all.

Dipesh Patel added: "Great presenter, always had a great charm and presenting style. Will be missed, deepest condolences to all family and friends of this legend."
