A BRADFORD-based grassroots club will be holding an awards event this Sunday to celebrate youngsters in the community.
Youngsters at Alpha United Juniors FC will be recognised for their efforts & achievements at an awards ceremony.
This is the first time since the start of the pandemic that such an event has taken place.
Mohammed Waheed, founder of Alpha United Juniors FC, said: “It is amazing to hold an event like this given the turmoil of the pandemic. Hundreds of guests including MPs, councillors and business dignitaries will join parents and the youngsters to recognise and celebrate the achievements of these amazing individuals.
“Events like ours, are focused on helping our multi-cultural communities to be able to socialise and integration an environment that celebrates the achievements of their loved ones.”
Bradford West MP Naz Shah, whose constituency the club is based in, will be in attendance to hand out awards.
She said: “It’s a huge honour to be taking part in such a grassroots movement, we know that sport not only benefits individuals but also families and whole communities and the achievements of Alpha United are reflective of the resilient community in a post covid world, which is now in the middle of a cost-of-living crisis too.”
