A convicted sex offender has been ordered to pay £305 in fines and costs after failing to tell the police that he had renewed his passport.
Mohammed Kabeer was ordered to sign on the sex offender register after he was sentenced at Bradford Crown Court in 2014 for possession of indecent images.
Kabeer, 39, of Ashgrove, off Great Horton Road, Bradford, pleaded guilty to failing to comply with the notification requirements by not telling the police within three days that he had a new passport after the old one expired in 2018.
In mitigation, it was stated at Bradford Crown Court this week that it was a mistake and he was very apologetic. He was a hardworking man who had stayed out of trouble since 2014.
Judge Peter Armstrong accepted that the breach was inadvertent and said little or no harm had been done.
The main purpose of the register was to prevent further offending and there hadn’t been any.
Kabeer was fined £200 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £20 surcharge.
