A supermarket worker who sold small amounts of cannabis to fund his own habit has been sentenced to a two-year community order with 80 hours of unpaid work.
Umair Ali’s home was searched by the police on January 3, 2021, after a tip-off from a member of the public that there was cannabis there, Bradford Crown Court heard.
Ali, 29, of Church Green, Church Street, Manningham, Bradford, pleaded guilty on the day his case was listed for trial to possession of under 50 grams of the Class B drug with intent to supply it.
Prosecutor John Batchelor said deals of cannabis were found in a jar and bags along with scales.
Ali’s barrister, Rodney Ferm, said it was not a commercial operation; small quantities of the drug were occasionally sold to friends.
Judge Jonathan Rose said Ali had accepted his guilt ‘at the 11th hour’ but he had com-mitted no similar offences in the 18 months since.
He warned him: “If I see you again you are going to prison.”
