A YOUNG rider saw his electric motorbike seized by police after using it in an anti-social manner.
Over the last few weeks, officers have received numerous reports of electric motorbikes in the LS16 area, this includes Bramhope.
Officers from the Leeds District Off-Road Bike Team witnessed a male riding his Sur-Ron electric motorbike on roads, over grassed areas, along footpaths and through residential areas.
"It's electric, so can't be a motorbike," he told police.
Officers replied by saying:: "Incorrect. It is in fact a motorbike in the same way a Tesla is still a car."
The bike was seized under section 165 and the individual involved will be reported to the courts.
A spokesperson from West Yorkshire Police - Leeds North West added: "Thank you to local residents for your reports.
"We do respond to them and continue to patrol the areas we receive calls and emails from."
