A BRADFORD community centre has won a £1,000 Movement for Good Award from Benefact Group thanks to nominations from the public.

The Sedbergh Youth & Community Centre, on Huddersfield Road, Odsal, has been selected to receive a £1,000 donation as part of Benefact Group's Movement for Good Awards, which is giving over £1 million to charities.

The Movement for Good Award will help the centre continue to provide inclusive recreational, sporting activities and resources to the local community where they serve many pockets of deprivation.

Lucy O’Farrell, from the centre, said, “We are really proud to serve an annual footfall of 21,465 people and really understand the issues our local community faces.

“We deliver activities and resources that support people in crisis and work with them to improve physical and mental health.

“We are delighted to be awarded the Movement for Good Award which will go a long way in helping us to continue the work we do and make a real positive difference.

“We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who took the time to nominate us for this award.”

Members of the public were invited to nominate causes close to their hearts and winners, including Sedbergh Youth & Community Centre, were drawn at random.
