A WOMAN has been left ‘shocked’ after the pellet of a BB gun was shot from a car and hit her when she was out on a run.

Lindsay Johnson was leading her local running group, the Pudsey Pacers, on Thursday evening when she took them on their regular route up Leeds Bradford Road.

But this time, the group were left ‘shaken-up’ after two of the group members were hit by a BB gun pellet of a BB gun, which is believed to have been fired from a passing car.

Linsday said: “We set off from Pudsey Leisure Centre and as usual but then, when we got to Kwik Fit on Bradford Road towards Thornbury, we had to stop for a car to pull out.

“But when all traffic drove past at the traffic lights, I suddenly felt this very sharp pain on my neck where I had been hit and I thought ‘oh my god what is it and I was checking I wasn’t bleeding.

“At first I just thought the worst and thought I’d been shot at. My first reaction was to put my hand up and I was checking that I was alright. I was quite shaken up.”

But Lindsay explained she wasn't the one in the group to be hit by a pellet, as another member also had a shock

“Another girl in the group shouted because she’d also been hit on her shoulder.”

“I looked down and I saw this small yellow pellet and I realised it was that that had hit us.”

“There was a bit of a panic and we were making sure everyone was okay but we were all very shocked about what had happened.”

Lindsay said she will no longer be taking the group on the same running route and wants to raise awareness for people to keep their wits about them when in the area.

“I think I’ll be quite nervous to run up there again, but I’m just hoping it was a one-off and won’t be a regular occurrence,” she said

West Yorkshire Police confirmed that they took an online report on June 17 from a woman who reported that earlier she had been out with a running group on Leeds Road Bradford when she appeared to be hit by what’s believed to be BB Gun.

 Enquiries are ongoing.
