This compares to the national average of 49% of UK adults.

For many who have experienced loneliness, moving closer to family is part of the plan, as 15% vow to do this.

Looking at other ways to combat loneliness, 17% of people will ensure they keep busy with many activities and social groups while 15% want to be a part of a strong community.

Communities can play their part, as 33% wish people would talk and connect more with them on a daily basis.

Concerningly for 19% of people, loneliness is impacting their physical wellbeing and 45% say loneliness is just a part of their life they need to get used to.

Nick Sanderson, CEO, Audley Group, said: “It’s a common misconception that only those who are older experience loneliness. It’s prevalent across all age groups, and it has never been more important to support family and friends, and the whole community.”
