A BRADFORD man has been charged with murder more than a year after a 22-year-old was stabbed to death.

Luigi Antonacci, 24, of Scoresby Street, Little Germany has been charged with the offence after being arrested on Friday.

He remains in police custody and will appear before Sheffield Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (June 20).

It is in relation to the death of Armend Xhika, who was killed in Sheffield on May 13 last year.

Mr Xhika, who was 22, suffered multiple stab wounds, after reports of men fighting in Earl Marshal Road, Burngreave shortly before 8pm.

A number of people were injured but those involved left the scene before police got there.

Mr Xhika turned up at Northern General Hospital just after 8pm, but died shortly later.

A second man, also in his early twenties, was still in hospital being treated for his injuries at the time.

Detectives also arrested a 21-year-old woman on suspicion of assisting an offence on Friday.

She has been released under investigation.

Five arrests had been made during the murder investigation within three days of Mr Xhika's death.

A man in his thirties arrested on suspicion of murder was released under investigation.

A second man in his thirties and a man in his twenties arrested on suspicion of murder were released from from custody.

Meanwhile, a man in his twenties arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and a female in her twenties arrested on suspicion of assisting an offence were also released from custody.

Mentor Selmani, age 27, of Macham Road, Stratford, London was charged with - Section 18 - grievous bodily harm with intent, violent disorder, possession of an offensive weapon and criminal damage on May 13 this year.

He appeared at Sheffield Magistrates' Court, where he faced charges of: grievous bodily harm with intent - in relation to another man - violent disorder and criminal damage charges were dealt with, court records show.

The criminal damage is alleged to have been to a grey BMW Series 3 - valued under £5,000.

Selmani gave no indication of a plea and the case was sent to Sheffield Crown Court for June 13.

South Yorkshire Police revealed yesterday that Selmani will appear before Sheffield Crown Court for trial in January 2023 to face the four offences he was originally charged with.

A 30-year-old man arrested last August has been released under investigation.
