EMERGENCY services attended to two people in The Broadway Shopping Centre this afternoon.

A female suffered a medical episode and a male was seen by paramedics at around 2pm.

Ambulance arrived at the scene after receiving a medical call from the police.

This was about an unwell male who was checked over and did not need to be taken to hospital.

As paramedics were leaving, a female needed treatment elsewhere in The Broadway.

One witness said: "Someone collapsed in The Broadway near Boots.

"A police van and ambulance were at the scene.

"Four officers and two paramedics arrived at around 2.40pm.

"The person was in the recovery position. There was no real commotion or crowds.

"I heard noises before it happened, like loud shouts."

A spokesperson from Yorkshire Ambulance Service added: "A medical call was passed to us from police for a male at 2.08pm.

"An ambulance attended and checked the patient over but they did not need to be conveyed to hospital.

"As they were leaving the scene, they came across a female who was having a medical episode in the shopping centre.

"She was a completely different unrelated patient."

As of 3.30pm, paramedics were still at the scene attending to the female.
