A BRADFORD man has been jailed after breaking into a fish and chip shop.

Lewis Woodcock, 20, of Oakwell Close, Bradford, admitted burglary with intent to steal at Tingley Bar Fisheries in Bridge Street, Morley, in an incident which took place last month.

Woodcock appeared before Leeds Magistrates’ Court on Monday, June 13, wHere he pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to eight weeks in prison.

In sentencing, magistrates stated that the offence was so serious because it had been committed while Woodcock was on licence in relation to another offence.

They also said his previous convictions and protecting the public were factors in their decision.

He was also ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £128.
