With life expectancy more than ten years lower in the inner city than in the more affluent areas of Bradford, and respiratory disease a leading cause of early death, episode one follows community matrons, Julia and Sandra, who visit patients where the impact of the poor air quality is evident.

After visiting a mother and daughter with breathing difficulties, Julia is visibly upset.

Meanwhile, Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) Kiran and Matt describe working in neighbourhoods where people seem to shrug off living next door to houses that have been converted into cannabis farms.

If you are unable to watch tonight, Bradford on Duty will be available on BBC iPlayer.
