ONE person has been taken to hospital and four others escaped injury following two crashes on the M62 near Bradford this afternoon.

The crash on the M62 eastbound near Junction 28 at Tingley has caused long delays and an eight-mile tailback for motorists.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "There have been two collisions close to each other on the eastbound carriageway close to Junction 28."

A spokesperson for the Yorkshire Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 4.35pm today to reports of a collision near Tingley.

"An ambulance was dispatched to the scene and one patient was taken to Leeds General Infirmary.

"A further four people were checked over at the scene but were not transported to hospital."

National Highways: Yorkshire initially tweeted: "M62 eastbound within J28 near Morley. Traffic is being diverted via the exit and entry slip roads at J28 - following a collision. Eight miles of congestion plus 35-minute delays on the approach. Emergency services are at scene."
