New visiting arrangements for BRI and St Luke's Hospitals

From today, changes include both parents being allowed to visit the children's ward at the same time. Grandparents may now have a daily, pre-arranged visit of up to one hour to the neo-natal unit.

All visitors to wards at Bradford Royal Infirmary (BRI) and St Luke’s Hospital are reminded they must wear a mask to protect the patients and staff from the spread of Covid-19 and other infections.

The Trust says it also recommend visitors washing their hands or using hand gel frequently and maintaining social distancing where possible.

Here are the visiting arrangements for each ward:

Green and Red Wards:

• All patients can have two visits each day of up to an hour from two people, bookable directly with the ward.

• Visits should take place between 2-7pm, giving consideration to protect meal times.

• Wards should continue with their individual booking systems.

Ultra-Green Wards:

• Patients on Ultra-Green wards will now be allowed daily visits.

Children’s wards:

• Both parents can now visit the ward at the same time.

• All patients can have two visits each day of up to an hour from two people between 2-7pm (which includes siblings), bookable directly with the ward.

• A maximum of two people should be at the bedside at any one time for social distancing.

• Visitors/siblings should not attend if they have a temperature, cough, vomiting, diarrhoea or any other infection.

• Any sibling over the age of 12-years-old will need to wear a water fluid-resistant surgical mask.

Neonatal Unit:

• Grandparents may now have a daily, pre-arranged visit of up to one hour.

• No more than two visitors per bedside to allow social distancing.

• Visitors should not attend if they have a temperature, cough, vomiting, diarrhoea or any other infection.

Women’s and Newborn Unit:

• Labour Ward and Birth Centre - Two birth partners are permitted.

• Wards M3 & M4 – All patients can have two visits each day of up to an hour from two people between 1-7pm, bookable directly with the ward.

• No more than two visitors at the bedside at any one time.

• Partners are able to visit between 8am-8pm.

• One adult per woman can attend antenatal ultrasound scans.

Intensive Care Unit (ICU):

• ICU will continue with their appointment-based system.

• All patients can have one visit each day of up to an hour from two people, bookable directly with the ward (with the exception if the patient is end-of-life). Visits can be extended at the discretion of the ward manager. 

Outpatient visits:

• Outpatients can now be accompanied by one adult per appointment.

Accident & Emergency Department: • Where capacity in the department allows, all patients can be accompanied by one person.
