A SITE most recently used by contractors working on a mill refurbishment could soon become an industrial development.

A planning application to build five industrial starter units next to the Conditioning House development, off Cape Street, has been submitted to Bradford Council.

The application, submitted by Nathan Priestly, says the development would create 682 square metres of employment space.

It adds: “Until recently, the site has been used as a contractors’ site compound for the refurbishment of Conditioning House.

“The proposal is to create five new small light industrial units on the site, which will offer a high quality and modern working environment for small businesses.

“It would provide a large number of highly sought-after small units which will provide employment opportunities within the Bradford area.”

A decision on the application is expected next month.

The conversion of derelict Grade II listed Conditioning House into a development of over 150 flats has been one of the biggest residential schemes in Bradford City Centre in recent years.

Built in 1902, it was the only Council-run centre in the country for the testing of wool. In its heyday, around 70 per cent of all UK-made wool was brought in to check and control the moisture content.
