A highly acclaimed Bradford GP has described feeling “incredibly proud” after seeing her hometown win City of Culture 2025.
Dr Amina Ahmed, who also works as a cosmetic dermatologist and aesthetician, said: “I am absolutely delighted, and incredibly proud, that my hometown of Bradford has been announced as the city of culture 2025.
“Bradford is very close to my heart, and I couldn’t imagine bringing up my family, or having my business, anywhere else.”
The businesswoman was born in Bradford, before heading to the University of Leicester to study medicine and become a doctor.
She returned to Bradford after graduating, where she has since married and had two sons. She opened her first aesthetics and cosmetic dermatology clinic, Skin Britannia, in 2019.
Dr Amina was diagnosed with stomach cancer whilst pregnant with her second son, inspiring her to become a vocal campaigner who raises awareness of health issues affecting women; in particular those from marginalised communities.
