DEDICATED volunteers at a Bradford district cemetery have been honoured by the Queen.

The Undercliffe Cemetery Charity has received the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. This is also known as the MBE for voluntary groups.

The cemetery volunteers took to social media to say they were delighted to be handed the honour.

They tweeted: “We’ve been volunteering at Undercliffe Cemetery for almost 40 years (well some of us have been there all that time) and now we’re delighted to announce we’ve been awarded the Queen’s Award.

“What an absolute honour and delight and best ever news. We’re celebrating.”

The Queen’s Award tweeted: “Congratulations! Thank you to all the volunteers at Undercliffe Cemetery.

“The work you have done over the past 40 years is absolutely brilliant!”
