HUGE queues trailed through the city centre this morning as a new coffee and doughnut store opened next to The Broadway.

American chain Dunkin' opened its new store after success with its drive-thru store in Odsal, which opened in 2020.

Hundreds of people gathered for more than an hour before the opening to get a first look inside, in the hope of bagging themselves a free doughnut or goody bag.

Michael Johnston, Head of Operations at Dunkin', said: “It’s just fantastic to open another store in Bradford. It’s in a great city centre location and with the success of the Odsal store, we can wait to see how this one develops.”

“It’s great to be here and open the day after Bradford has been named the City of Culture too, the brand is all about positive vibes and we’re definitely seeing that today.”

To mark the occasion, the first 50 customers were given t-shirts and baseball caps which entitles them to free coffee or doughnuts every day in June.

And customers were invited to 'dunk to win' for another chance to grab a freebie.

Bradford man Hosaam Qureshi said: “These are some of the best doughnuts in the world. I’m a huge foodie and I love sweet treats. I travel around to try new foods but it's great to have this in Bradford.”

James Guy, New Store Openings Manager for Dunkin' UK said: “At Dunkin' we wholeheartedly believe that the world runs on positive energy and nothing gives you a boost quite like freshly brewed coffee and sweet treats.

“Our vision for the new high street store is to provide the people of Bradford with a place to make sweet memories with family and friends."

Dunkin' has created 14 new jobs to support the launch.

Mr Johnston said this is the first Dunkin' store to open in the UK this year, with plans to open in another two major cities in the next few months.

There are also plans in the pipeline to open another eight to 10 stores in UK cities over the next year.

Established in Massachusetts in the 1950s, Dunkin' has since spread to 46 countries, with 22 UK stores.
