I WAS stunned by the decision by the BBC to condemn BBC4 to an online only service.

So many people I know watch and enjoy BBC4. My husband and I watch it regularly - its documentaries on subjects from world wars to caravanning, are brilliant. We also love many of the foreign language drama series on a Saturday night. The French police drama Spiral, aired on BBC 4 18 months ago, was one of the best things we have watched on TV. And we love BBC4’s ‘slow TV’ programmes, including the canal journey and reindeer migration. Not everyone, even those with a computer or laptop, wants to watch online, yet we don’t seem to have a voice in today’s world.
