A WOMAN allegedly blocked a road near a large industrial unit containing dairy, food, hospitality and catering firms.

Claire Smith, 24, of Chadwick Street in the centre of Leeds, has been charged with wilful obstruction of a highway.

She is due in Wycombe Magistrates' Court next Monday for the trial after pleading not guilty to the offence.

It is alleged that Smith obstructed the free passage down Samian Way, in Aylesbury on August 31 last year.

This was around the time large amounts of people from environmental campaign group, Extinction Rebellion, blocked roads in London.

Samian Way is the entrance route to and surrounding road of Symmetery Park - an industrial park.

The park houses a set of huge buildings occupied by Arla, as well as units containing Global Infusion Group and Olleco.

Olleco supplies the likes of KFC and KP with cooking oil, while also collecting used cooking oil, which is used to create high-quality biofuels for transport, and also using food waste to generate green energy, and bio-fertiliser, which helps grow more food.

Global Infusion Group is a catering and hospitality business.

Smith pleaded not guilty on October 8 in 2021.

She is expected to appear via a live link next week.
