The Manor House pub in Otley is being put up for sale.

The pub, which is being put on the market by Thwaites, is described by Otley Pub Club as a "proper community local".

Now the pub club is hoping the building will be bought by a "good operator - an individual, small pub company or small brewery - willing to take it on and continue to serve the community as Otley's most easterly pub and a favourite with many."

The building first appeared on a map of Otley in 1851 when it was occupied by confectioner John Clarke. It was first licensed in the 1860s or 1870s.

It is popular with local folk musicians and has a strong reputation for folk music, and Irish music in particular. The Manor House is named after the Grade II listed home of Thomas Constable - the Otley solicitor who, with his sister Mary, helped some of those fleeing the Great Famine in Ireland (1845 to 1852) to re-settle in Otley.

The town's strong links to Ireland have been celebrated at the pub, which has also held regular fundraising evenings for the Thomas Constable Statue Fund, which was set up in 2014 to raise money and campaign for a permanent memorial in the town.
