A BRADFORD woman faced a hefty fine after she dodged rail fares.
Mavisg Mahmood, 23, travelled between Bradford Interchange and Manchester Victoria on November 1, 2021, and failed to produce a valid 16-25 railcard that she had used to buy her ticket.
Mahmood, of Killinghall Road, was requested to produce a ticket and offered one up that was discounted with a 16-25 railcard.
However, she was unable to produce the railcard, stating that she had left it at work.
Following the incident, a letter was sent to the defendant requesting sight of the railcard.
As there was no response a Fixed Penalty letter was then sent, however, this remains unpaid.
Mahmood was ordered to pay a fine of £220, compensation of £28.20, a surcharge to fund victim services of £34, and costs of £150.
In total, she must pay £432.20 for failing to pay a fare of £28.20, which must be paid by June 3, 2022.
