A BRADFORD man has been banned from owning animals for at least the next five years after failing to prevent the unnecessary suffering of his dog.
David Pickles, of St Stephens Road, off Manchester Road, admitted to the offence in court last week.
Between Christmas Day in 2021 and February 21 of this year, the 63-year-old failed to take his dog Tiny, who had lost a significant amount of weight, to the vets.
It turned out the white tan female crossbred had a dental disease and swollen painful limbs.
The court said Pickles caused the animal unnecessary suffering.
An order was made to disqualify Pickles from owning or looking after animals.
No application for termination of the order can be made within the period of five years.
Pickles was handed a community order and must pay a victim surcharge of £95.
He appeared in Bradford Magistrates Court on Tuesday, May 17.
