Here at First West Yorkshire, we’re committed to helping deliver sustainable prosperity for Bradford and supporting the city’s future in a zero-carbon world - and we know independent businesses are keen to do the same!

That’s why we’ve launched the Bradford £20k Go-Greener Fund to help Bradford’s small businesses in retail, food & drink, leisure, hospitality, health & beauty and consumer services encourage eco-friendly high street spending and boost customer-led sustainable growth.

The purpose of the Go-Greener Fund is to support plans by independent owners in consumer sectors to build on eco-friendly products and practices that directly appeal to customers, helping them to consider sustainable choices in what they buy and the services they use.

Are you considering switching to 100% eco-friendly packaging but need a financial boost? Want to use suppliers with green products or materials for your business, but need some help with the cost? The Bradford £20K Go-Greener Fund is here to help you implement a greener change and reduce the carbon footprint of your small business and its customers.

The fund is supported by Green Street, an organisation helping small retailers to become more sustainable which is pioneering its first project in Bradford and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority.

Green Street Founder, Victoria Robertshaw and Vincent McCabe, Programme Lead (Clean Growth & Innovation) at the Combined Authority, will help in assessing and deciding successful entries as part of a panel including First West Yorkshire Managing Director, Paul Matthews.

There’s £20,000 available from the Bradford Go-Greener Fund; awards of £2,000 will be given to 10 successful applicants and each successful applicant will have the exciting opportunity to feature in a marketing video all about their business. The videos showcasing these businesses will then go to a people’s vote with the winner receiving a fully funded sustainability review of their business with advice from experts, paid for by the Combined Authority.

Applications are open until 14th June 2022 – you can apply for a share of the fund by submitting details about your business and your eco-friendly idea at www.firstbus.co.uk/bradfordgogreenerfund
